I’ve spent a lot of time away from home, leaving Westminster in 2002 and not truly returning until 2023. Along the way, I found myself in two very different yet surprisingly similar careers. Ballet and contemporary dance may seem worlds apart from Active Duty military service, but both demand physical precision, discipline, and a deep awareness of how the body moves. As I began to get older, every injury, strain, and years of pushing through discomfort started catching up with me. After leaving Active Duty, my days were spent at a desk, and consistent physical fitness became a luxury I often didn’t have time for. Several years passed, and the pain grew constant—until one day it hit me like a ton of bricks...
I needed to get back to moving!!!
What I was experiencing is incredibly common. As we become more sedentary, our once-pliable muscles lose flexibility, and the body begins shifting out of alignment to compensate for tightness, weakness, or pain. Year after year of misalignment, overcompensation, and underuse wreaks havoc on our joints, posture, and overall mobility. Renewed Motion Studios was created in direct response to this reality. As a former professional ballet and contemporary dancer who performed with companies across the United States and later served nearly eleven years in the U.S. Army, I’ve spent more than two decades in physically demanding professions that both shaped and challenged my body. Dance taught me precision in both turned-out and parallel alignment, while the military exposed me to a wide range of conditioning methods and movement practices. Through countless injuries and recoveries, I learned how alignment, mindful movement, and consistent mobility work can restore the body’s natural balance. Those lessons—earned through experience, effort, and healing—became the foundation for Renewed Motion Studios and its mission to help others move with confidence, ease, and renewed capability.
